NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Titans welcomed brokers and their families from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee at Nissan Stadium for an evening fun and entertainment. Titans DT Jurrell Casey and center Ben Jones were on hand to sign autographs and join guest speaker Jonathan Hutton of Titans Radio for an intimate, one-on-one discussion about the team's upcoming season and new synergy on the field.
"This was a unique event that we put together working with the Titans," said John Maki, Vice-President of Sales and Account Management for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. "We wanted to come up with an idea where we could do a broker event, but instead of taking them away from their families, have them bring their children with them. We decided to have the event here at the stadium, tour the stadium, see places they wouldn't see like the locker room and the jumbotron room, then come down on the field and look up at the stadium to experience the stadium in a different point of view without it being gameday."
"It's two powerful brands that combine and join forces here in the state of Tennessee," said Ralph Ockenfels, Vice-President of Marketing and Broadcast & Digital Rights. "It's one with an everchanging industry their facing. As a partner, what we've been able to do is really help them from a branding and awareness standpoint to help them move the needle in sales and account acquisition. It really has been a wonderful partnership that grows in scope each and every year and has been going on for over a decade. We look forward for many years to come."
One of the unique aspects of the partnership allows Blue Cross Blue Shield to bring all the Blue Cross Bowl winning teams from each classification to a Titans home game. Each team brings the head coach and a couple of the players down on the field in the 2nd quarter and at the two-minute warning each of the winning teams is recognized and shown on the Jumbotron. It is a thrill for both the coaches and players so their friends and families can see them and they get to view NFL action up close from the sidelines.
"We have a great partnership with the Titans and it's been fantastic!" said Maki. "We've done things in the past like the playground build, we bring people to every game and we do events like this. One unique thing that we do is the TSSAA Champions, because it is the Blue Cross Blue Bowl they participate in, we bring in the winner of each classification down on the field. We've been able to take our partnership and really work on community involvement."
Titans' mascot, T-Rac and cheerleaders, Kelsey and Travona also stopped by to jump in greenscreen photos and put big smiles on the children's faces.
After the program and dinner, the families were treated to a stadium tour where they ended up on the field to run and toss around footballs, take pictures and play. After the tour, there was no better way to end the day than with ice cream milk shakes!
