FIRST-HALF OFFENSE: Although they entered the locker room at halftime with only a 7-3 lead, the Titans outgained the Browns 201 yards to 132. The offensive output was the team's second-highest of the preseason, almost equaling the 202 yards they gained in the first half against the Buffalo Bills (8/9).
GAGE RECORDS PRESEASON HIGHS: Justin Gage, who played the entire first half, recorded preseason highs with six receptions and 57 yards. He caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Kerry Collins, the second consecutive contest the duo hooked up for a score. Their success against the Browns came one week after connecting on a 17-yard touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys.
COLLINS PUTS UP IMPRESSIVE NUMBERS: Kerry Collins left the game during the second quarter. His final statistics for the game included 14 attempts, 11 completions, 102 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions for a preseason-high passer rating of 120.8.
THREE-AND-OUTS: For the third consecutive preseason game, the Titans defense forced an opponent three-and-out to start the game. They did the same against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8/15) and Dallas Cowboys (8/21).
YOUNG SCRAMBLE: In the third quarter, Vince Young escaped the pocket and gained 23 yards on a scramble, his longest run of the preseason. A 15-yard facemask penalty on the Browns on the play pushed the ball past midfield and helped set up Young's 15-yard touchdown pass to tight end Matthew Mulligan.
SUCCESSFUL FAKE PUNT: For the second time this preseason, the Titans succeeded on a fake punt attempt. In the fourth quarter, Vincent Fuller took the direct snap and raced to the right sideline, picking up six yards on fourth-and-three. In their first preseason game against Buffalo (8/9), A.J. Trapasso rushed for a 40-yard touchdown from punt formation.
