TITANS BOUNCE BACK: After giving up a touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage, the Titans bounced back to take the lead, courtesy of two Rob Bironas field goals and a touchdown run by Jamie Harper.
VERNER NOTCHES INTERCEPTION: On a Sam Bradford pass that was broken up by Cortland Finnegan, Alterraun Verner grabbed the football after a deflection to record his first interception of the preseason. As a rookie in 2010, Verner collected three interceptions.
HARPER SCORES AGAIN: For the second consecutive week, Titans rookie running back Jamie Harper scored a touchdown. In the first quarter against the Rams, he scored on a one-yard carry. The previous week against the Vikings, the fourth-round pick from Clemson scored on a two-yard run.
TITANS CONVERTING TURNOVERS INTO POINTS: After Alterraun Verner notched his interception, the Titans drove 19 yards on four plays for a touchdown. It was the third consecutive turnover in the preseason the Titans converted to a touchdown. In the previous game against the Vikings, the Titans scored a touchdown after an interception and a fumble.
HARPER'S BIG RUN LEADS TO SCORE: Jamie Harper was credited with a 46-yard carry in the first quarter. The rookie's run set the Titans up for a 25-yard field goal by Rob Bironas.
SACKS ON THIRD DOWN: In the first half, the Titans stopped two drives with a pair of sacks on third down. Linebacker Will Witherspoon dropped Sam Bradford for a 10-yard loss on third-and-15. Then, Cortland Finnegan came on a blitz and notched a six-yard sack on third-and-13.
COOK COMES UP BIG: On a scoring drive in the second quarter, tight end Jared Cook helped put the Titans in position for a field goal. He caught a 25-yard pass from Matt Hasselbeck on the first play of the drive, and then, on third-and-three, he recorded a 29-yard catch on a Jake Locker pass.
HARPER GOES OVER 100 YARDS OF OFFENSE: In the first half, running back Jamie Harper went over the 100-yard mark in total offense. He rushed for 83 yards on 11 carries (7.5 avg.) and added one reception for 24 yards.
HASSELBECK OK AFTER LEAVING GAME EARLY: The Titans received a scare in the second quarter, when Matt Hasselbeck stayed on the turf after being hit on a pass attempt. Hasselbeck's diagnosis, however, was that he had the wind knocked out of him. Although he was able to return, he did not re-enter the contest.
