Titans Edge Harold Landry Has His Sights Set on "Career Year"

NASHVILLE – Harold Landry is back on the field, but still working to peak for the season.

After missing the first portion of training camp with an illness, the Titans edge rusher returned to practice on Tuesday. Landry practiced for the second time on Wednesday.

"It felt straight being back out here," Landry said after today's practice. "Obviously it's training camp, tough practices. You are going to have some good plays, and have some stuff you have to correct.

"It was frustrating being sick, and having to focus to get my weight back and stuff like that. But it is all coming along fine. I feel good, and I'm ready to rock."

Landry said he lost somewhere between 10 to 15 pounds recently with the illness, which forced him to miss the first three practices of camp.

He's still working to get back to full strength, trying to be patient, and smart.

"I am not about to just put on bad weight," Landry said. "(The weight) is going to get back on, but it's going to be done gradually. … I'm relatively close. I'm just going to take it one day at a time."

Landry, heading into his seventh NFL season, is coming off a 2023 season when he recorded 10.5 sacks, with 48 pressures and 69 tackles. In 2021, a year before suffering the torn ACL that robbed him of the 2022 season, Landry racked up 12 sacks, 49 pressures and 75 tackles.

Landry has his sights set on more in 2024.

"I am super excited, man," Landry said. "I am looking for a career year."

And, with a new defensive coordinator in Dennard Wilson, Landry is excited about what it could mean for the defense.

"He's not only a great coach, but he's a great leader of men," Landry said of Wilson. "Guys are really buying in to what he is trying to get us to do. I feel like that is why the defense right now is just playing so fast and aggressive and under his leadership.

"Guys are coming out here working, and every day is a competition. As long as guys keep stacking days, we're going to see what happens."
