NASHVILLE – A familiar face is returning to the Titans – linebacker David Long Jr.
On Wednesday, the Titans claimed Long off waivers from the Detroit Lions, who waived him this week.
Also on Wednesday, the team placed linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr on Injured Reserve, ending his season.
Long appeared in five games for the Lions this season after being waived by the Dolphins earlier in the year.
Long returns to the Titans, who selected him in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Long played from 2019-2022 in Tennessee before joining the Dolphins in 2023. Long has played in 80 career games, including the 50 games he played for the Titans.
Over his NFL career, Long has tallied 388 tackles, one sack, 27 tackles for loss, four interceptions, 15 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. This year, splitting time between Miami (8 games) and Detroit (5 games), he totaled 45 tackles, three tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.
Murray, who suffered a season-ending wrist injury in Sunday's game at Indianapolis, currently leads the team with 95 tackles. Murray has also totaled 3.5 sacks and 16 quarterback pressures this season.
The Titans face the Jaguars on Sunday in Jacksonville.
