NASHVILLE, TN, Feb. 27, 2007 —During one recent, special Friday night, 11 members of the Tennessee Titans cheerleading squad made an appearance at the 2007 Vanderbilt University Dance Marathon. The event was a grueling 14-hour fundraiser that benefited the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital (a member of the children's Miracle Network).
At the event, Titans Cheerleaders performed a variety of routines, in addition to signing hundreds of autographs and taking photos with fans. Surpassing even the most optimistic of expectations, this year's Vanderbilt Dance Marathon raised a grand total of $163,915.05, an increase from about $112,000 just last year!
Third-year Titans Cheerleader Kerry said she looked forward to coming out and cheering to make a difference. "In every year that I have been a Titans Cheerleader, I have enjoyed coming out and supporting this good cause, " she said.
For Titans Cheerleader Julia, the event had a special personal meaning. "I have seen the inner workings of children's hospitals having worked in the profession," she said. "After having been on the inside, I see why it is so very important for us to come out and support an event which benefits the Vanderbilt children's hospital. This has been a very rewarding experience."
The Titans Cheerleaders appearance at the event was representative of how the squad enjoys giving back to the community and supporting local efforts aimed at helping those in need.
Titans cheerleader Andi noted, "Children mean the world, and as a squad we were glad we could come out and help."
Titans Cheerleader Kristina summed it up, "We were cheering for a good cause."
