The wait seemed long but was worth it for Alterraun Verner Wednesday night.
Verner, the Titans cornerback, was picked to **join Team Jerry Rice** for Sunday's Pro Bowl near the end of the first Pro Bowl Draft.
"It took forever in the draft, but thank you to all the people that stayed and watched the draft. I'm not going to let y'all down," Verner said in a video he shot for Titans Online.
A 2013 season that began with the fourth-year pro competing for a starting cornerback position and included his team-leading five interceptions and 26 pass deflections will culminate with Verner playing for Rice, who was his favorite player during Verner's youth.
Verner was tabbed by the Hall of Fame receiver in the 20th round of the first-ever Pro Bowl Draft. He will join teammates from the AFC and NFC in a brand new format that will pit his team against the team picked by Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders.
"Of course I'm underrated, one of the last people taken just like I was a couple of years ago when I got drafted to Tennessee in the fourth round," Verner said. "It doesn't matter where you get picked up as long as you get picked, and I'm blessed to be here and I'm going to show all them why I should have been the number one pick when I'm driving off in that car and the Defensive MVP. I appreciate all y'all staying up, and Titan Nation, we're going to do it."
