"Titans Caravan is a special way our organization personalizes our connection to fans across all of Tennessee and the Mid-South. It offers players and staff the opportunity to meet people individually and demonstrate our appreciation face-to-face," said Titans Owner and Founder K.S. "Bud" Adams, Jr. "The celebration of our 50th Anniversary underscores the importance of our direct link to fans; and in this special year, Titans Caravan continues its unique tradition of building memories, creating lasting bonds with fans, and offering our thanks for their support. At a time when professional sports can sometimes seem too removed and too distant, Titans Caravan is a one-of-a-kind experience that puts fans in close contact with our players."
Titans Caravan XII begins on Monday, April 13 in Rutherford County with a multiple-school stop hosted by Christiana Middle School. Two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch will kick off the Caravan for the second year in a row, as he entertains youngsters with a school program designed to encourage them to participate in the NFL's "Play 60" program, which emphasizes the need for all youth to get at least 60 minutes of active play per day to combat the growing issue of child obesity.
The school program will be performed a total of 14 times before an estimated 15,000 children on this year's Caravan. Many school systems will bring together students from multiple locations to hear the team's important message encouraging them to stay healthy by exercising.
Public Caravan stops give fans the chance to meet and greet the team personnel. Each public event provides fans an opportunity to collect autographs and take pictures with the Titans, while the team receives an opportunity to thank its fans. There is no charge to attend any of the Titans Caravan XII public events and each stop lasts approximately one hour.
Titans Caravan XII will end with a special visit on Thursday, April 23 with soldiers and family members of the 101st Airborne Division and the 160th SOAR(A) of the US Army at Fort Campbell, Ky. Multiple players, cheerleaders, T-Rac and staff will be part of the day, as they take the opportunity to thank our troops and their families for the great sacrifice that they make for all of us.
The full list of Titans players taking part in Titans Caravan XII will be announced next week.
Over the last 11 years, Titans Caravan has made nearly 600 stops, traveled approximately 50,000 miles, visited over 200 schools and shaken hands with over 100,000 fans. The number of autographs signed and pictures taken is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands.
Titans Caravan began in 1998 as a small effort to spread goodwill through the region. The current Caravan includes six full-time staffers that travel with Titans players, broadcasters and T-Rac throughout the Mid-South on a specially-decorated motor coach from Premiere Transportation.
"We're excited to take Titans Caravan XII to our fans," said Titans Senior Executive Vice President Steve Underwood. "Mr. Adams has made a strong commitment to this effort, and we all look forward to making the 50th season of the organization one of our most special."
