NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans bolstered their depth – and added competition -- at the tight end position on Wednesday by claiming former Giants and Jets tight end Jerome Cunningham off waivers.
Cunningham on Tuesday was waived by the Jets, who claimed him off waivers from the Giants two weeks ago.
A 6-foot-3, 250-pounder, Cunningham went undrafted in 2013 and signed with the Giants in August of 2014.
He played in nine games last season and caught eight passes for 59 yards, with a long catch of 16 yards. Cunningham was mostly on the Giants' practice squad in 2014.
Cunningham, who played at Southern Connecticut State, joins tight ends Delanie Walker, Craig Stevens, Anthony Fasano, Phillip Supernaw and Alex Ellis on the roster.
Since the team's roster count previously stood at 89 players, the Titans did not have to release a player to claim Cunningham.
