Titans fan drops off donation for YWCA.
The Tennessee Titans and the YWCA partnered to host the "Women's Undergarment Drive" September 3, 2009 during the Titans preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.  The drive was held to support the YWCA's Weaver Domestic Violence Shelter.  Fans were asked to bring new women's undergarments to the stadium and drop them at one of the seven drop locations set up around LP Field.

The YWCA Weaver Domestic Violence Shelter helps women and children throughout Nashville and reaches out through various programs which include a 24-hour domestic violence hotline, counseling, support groups, GED preparation and youth services.

The Titans and the YWCA began their partnership several years ago and this year marked the second YWCA drive held during a Titans game.

"The mission of the YWCA is to work towards the elimination of racism and the empowerment of women, " said Pamela Sessions, VP-Programs at the YWCA.  "A partnership with the Titans is a natural one since the Titans organization supports the same mission and the work the YWCA does throughout the Nashville community."

"This effort is very important because hundreds of women will be affected by this drive because often times when they come to our center, they don't have anything but what they are wearing," Sessions added.  "Being able to give them new clothing is a great self-esteem and self-respect builder for these women.  This drive is such a gracious thing for the Titans to be able to involve their staff and the community and partner with the YWCA in a great way."

Season ticket holders Lynette and Alex Gigliotti were rewarded for donating items with a visit to the field prior to the start of the game.
Lynette and Alex Gigliotti of Mt. Juliet donated items to the drive and were randomly selected to go down to the field as a special thank you for supporting the drive!

"We're first time season ticket holders," said Alex Gigliotti, "We just wanted to help out with the drive and had no idea we'd get to come down to the field!  This is great!  We also purchased Titans license plates which benefits the Titans Foundation."

"We think the Titans Foundation and organization does great work in the Nashville community and whether it's by buying the plates or donating to a drive, we're happy to contribute because it's such a good cause," said Lynette Gigliotti.

The Titans and LP Building Products will host the LP PENCIL Box Drive on September 20, 2009 during the game against Houston Texans.  The donations from this drive will go to Metro teachers who will then distribute the items to needy school children.  Titans fans are asked to bring the following items: bottle glue, crayons, erasers, glue sticks, notebook paper, pencil boxes, pencils, pocket folders, spiral notebooks and washable markers.
