NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans, in conjunction with the National Football League, will host the first annual Women's Officiating Academy on Friday, Nov. 8 from 4-8 p.m. at Saint Thomas Sports Park in Nashville.
As part of the NFL's Women Officiating Now (W.O.N.) Initiative, the free clinic seeks to highlight the benefits of becoming involved in officiating while connecting individuals to the game of football. It is open to female students, athletes, coaches, and young women between the ages of 17-35 interested in furthering their officiating knowledge.
During the four-hour event, participants will hear how to get started in officiating and will be introduced to topics such as basic football rules, instant replay and officiating mechanics through the use of interactive guest panels, instructional videos and on-field drills. Titans safety Michael Griffin will serve as a featured speaker as he breaks down game film with audience members and reviews penalized plays.
