NASHVILLE – The Titans have agreed to terms with running back/returner Trenton Cannon, who spent the 2021 season with the San Francisco 49ers.
Cannon, drafted in the sixth-round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Jets, has played in 46 career NFL games during his time with the Jets (2018-19), Panthers (2020), Ravens (2021) and 49ers (2021).
The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder has 150 career rushing yards and a touchdown, along with 20 catches for 160 yards. He's also been a contributor on special teams in his NFL career as a returner and special teams player.
Over four NFL seasons, Cannon has posted 38 special teams stops, including a team-best 16 during his rookie campaign with the Jets. Last year in 11 games with San Francisco, he ranked second on the team with 10 special teams tackles.
While with the Panthers, Cannon made a 98-yard kick return against the Buccaneers in 2020, during a season when he averaged 29.8 yards on 10 returns. Cannon has returned 32 kicks for 742 yards (23.2-yard average) in the NFL, including 16 returns for 328 yards (20.5-yard average) last season with the 49ers.
Cannon played collegiately at Virginia State, where he ran for 4,035 yards and 44 touchdowns in three seasons.
Cannon played in 11 games for the 49ers in 2021. His best NFL season came in 2018 with the Jets, when he ran for 113 yards on 38 carries while also catching 17 passes for 144 yards.
Cannon was a Pro Bowl alternate as a special teamer in 2021.
