NASHVILLE – The Titans have agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension with long snapper Morgan Cox.
Cox, who joined the Titans last offseason, was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent when free agency opens next week.
Cox, who played his first 11 NFL seasons as the long snapper for the Ravens, played in all 17 regular season games for the Titans during the 2021 season, in addition to the team's playoff contest.
A Collierville native who played at Evangelical Christian School and the University of Tennessee, Cox is regarded as one of the best long snappers in the NFL. He was a first alternate for the Pro Bowl in 2021.
A four-time Pro Bowler, Cox initially joined the Ravens in 2010 as an undrafted rookie from Tennessee.
Cox has played in 182 regular season games in his NFL career, along with 11 playoff contests.
Cox was a walk-on at the University of Tennessee before earning a scholarship prior to the 2008 season. He was the starting long snapper for Tennessee for the 2007, 2008, and 2009 seasons and he earned Academic All-SEC honors from 2006–2009.
With the Titans, he snapped to punter Brett Kern on punts in 2021, and he was the short snapper for Randy Bullock's kicks.
Bullock finished ninth in franchise history with 120 points in a single season, while Kern had the league's third-best ratio of punts inside the 20 to touchbacks (18:1).
Cox was credited with a special teams tackle in 2021 as well.
Cox played in all 17 regular season games for the Titans during the 2021 season, in addition to the team's playoff contest. Cox, regarded as one of the best long snappers in the NFL, played 11 seasons as the long snapper for the Ravens before joining the Titans.
