NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans have drafted quarterback Rusty Smith, making him the first player ever drafted from Florida Atlantic.
The Titans currently have Vince Young, veteran Kerry Collins and Chris Simms on the roster. But Collins is in the final year of his contract and due $5.5 million.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Smith played only seven games in 2009 due to an injury to his left, non-throwing shoulder. The Titans like his ability to make all the throws and work from under center.
Smith is only the second offensive player taken by the Titans. They have three picks left in the draft.
