NASHVILLE – The Titans returned to the practice field on Thursday at Saint Thomas Sports Park to continue preparations for Sunday's home opener against the Indianapolis Colts.

Here's a look at three quick hits from Thursday:

Eddie's Speech

Former Titans running back Eddie George addressed the current players after today's practice.

After Titans coach Mike Vrabel wrapped up his post-practice speech, he turned things over to George, whose jersey number No.27 will be retired at halftime of Sunday's contest.

So, what did George say to the team?

"I expressed to them this game that they're playing (vs. the Colts) is a signature game. It can be a turning of the tides, the changing of powers," George said.

"I go back to when we played in 1999 in Jacksonville … and we went down there and won and ended up taking control of the AFC Central at that time. … This could be the same thing for the Tennessee Titans. Indianapolis has been a thorn in their side, has been a hurdle they have to overcome. And this week is bigger than a playoff game, is bigger than a Super Bowl because it is a changing of power. Now, they can say, 'Hey, we're for real.' My message to them was to take this game personal."

George thanked Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk for honoring him and his former teammate, quarterback Steve McNair, whose No.9 will also be retired.

He discussed some of the team's current players, from running back Derrick Henry to receiver A.J. Brown.

Then, he issued a challenge to Titans fans – and ministers – for Sunday at Nissan Stadium.

"I'm praying that ministers this Sunday wrap up their services early, right around 10:30," George he said with a smile. "We honor God. We love God. We can bring him to the Titans' stadium, because I really want to see that stadium full right at kickoff. Loud. I'm challenging the fans to stand as much as possible during this game because we're going to need everybody to overcome this hurdle. I think the fans are itching. They're waiting to really, to really truly believe. They've been on the cusp. ... So we have to get this signature win to have them be on fire like it was when we played. It was standing room only, it was loud, it was intimidating, and it has to be like that for these guys.

"I think they're really close. I really do. I look at this team, the spirit of this team, they play together, and they trust each other. And that's the difference. If you compromise that in any way, shape or form, that's when you're done. So that was really the core of my message to them, is to protect that special unity because it doesn't happen a lot in this league. And once you got it, you keep it and you hold onto it."

Roster Move

The Titans signed running back Dalyn Dawkins to their practice squad on Thursday and placed QB Logan Woodside on the practice squad injured list.

Woodside won't be eligible to play this season.

Dawkins, who made the team's initial 53-man roster, was waived from the active roster on Tuesday.

Injury Report

Offensive lineman Kevin Pamphile (knee) and linebacker Reggie Gilbert (knee) did not practice on Thursday.

Running back David Fluellen (hamstring) also missed practice after being limited on Wednesday.

Outside linebacker Cameron Wake and tight end Delanie Walker returned to practice, after being held out on Wednesday.
