NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Titans just wrapped up practice on Wednesday at Saint Thomas Sports Park.
On Sunday, the team will face the Houston Texans.
Three quick hits after today's practice:
**
Texans without Watt**
The Texans will be without defensive lineman J.J. Watt in Sunday's game. Watt was placed on Injured Reserve on Wednesday because of a back injury.
Titans tackle Taylor Lewan said the Texans are formidable on defense even without Watt, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year in the NFL.
"Mercilus ate my lunch last year,'' Lewan said of Texans linebacker Whitney Mercilus, who had 3.5 sacks vs the Titans in the November 1 contest. "Their whole defense has been playing unbelievable. Their front five, front seven, they've been playing awesome. Just because one guy is out doesn't make our job any easier."
Titans coach Mike Mularkey said he was disappointed to learn about Watt's injury. Linebacker John Simon leads the Texans with 2.5 sacks, while Mercilus has two in three games. Watt recorded 1.5 sacks in the first two games.
"He is a great player,'" Mularkey said of Watt. "You hate to see really any player get hurt. It's unfortunate, just like it was when Teddy (Bridgewater) was injured Minnesota week. You really don't want to see anybody get hurt and have a chance to compete.
"But they have a really good front there. We have a lot of guys we have to handle. No change is going to be made to the game plan and nothing will change based on the injury."
**
Wright feeling right**
Titans receiver Kendall Wright was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, and said afterward, "I'll be ready."
Wright missed the first three games with a hamstring injury. He was a limited participant in practice last week.
"It was good being out there, that was the fun part,'' Wright said. "It is not fun watching week in and week out, and getting treatment. It was fun and exciting just to be out there and be a part of everything. Being out there helped my mindset.
"I am just going to go out there and do what I know I can do – catch the ball and make plays."
Other injuries
Titans safety Da'Norris Searcy (ankle) won't play on Sunday against the Texans, and he could miss several weeks, according to Mularkey.
Tight end Delanie Walker (hamstring) missed practiced on Wednesday, but Mularkey said he expects him to be able to play on Sunday.
"I feel good," Walker said.
Guard Quinton Spain (knee) did not practice on Wednesday.
Titans rookie receiver Tajae Sharpe was limited in today's practice with a hamstring injury, while cornerback Cody Riggs suffered a hamstring injury during practice.
