NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans just wrapped up their first day of this week's minicamp at Saint Thomas Sports Park.

Here's a look at three quick hits after today's practice…

Handcuffs off**

The Titans have taken the handcuffs off of first-round pick Corey Davis, and he's shining more and more.

Davis, the fifth overall pick in the NFL Draft, made a number of impressive plays on the team's first day of minicamp. He went across the middle of the field and snagged a pass from quarterback Marcus Mariota on one play, and later made a nice catch while working against fellow first-round pick Adoree' Jackson. 

"We've been the ones that have monitored Cory Davis – we've basically told him the plays we wanted him to be in,'' Titans coach Mike Mularkey said. "Now, we are leaving it up to him. What does he feel comfortable with his body? How much can he do? From what I know it looks like he did everything, and that's a credit to him.

"He caught a lot of balls today. This is the most reps he's had since he's been here, and he was very productive today, in a variety of routes. It was a good day for Corey Davis."   

Davis was slowed in organized team activities earlier this offseason because of a lingering ankle injury. 

Davis, while standing at his locker after practice, said he's "100 percent."  

"It feels real good,'' Davis said. "Today is the first day they let me do everything. They have sort of been cautious with me. So it felt good to go out there and do everything, and compete with my team and get better."

Happy for Durant

Titans linebacker Brian Orakpo used to see NBA star Kevin Durant up close and personal.

The two were star athletes at the University of Texas, where Durant played during the 2006-07 season before heading to the NBA.

On Monday night, Durant was named MVP of the NBA Finals after Golden State won the title.

"I am very happy for him," Orakpo said of Durant. "He was only in school for a year, but you could see the greatness then. I knew he was going to be a stud."

Orakpo said he used to keep in close contact with Durant when he played for the Redskins. Durant, who previously played at Oklahoma City, grew up in Washington, D.C. When the two see each other now, "it's all good," Orakpo said.

"We'd always see each other then," Orakpo said of his days with the Redskins. "He would always come to practices, and it was cool that we really went from UT to the pros at the same time. He's such a good and humble guy. From the time I've spent time with him, he's so humble. It's unbelievable, to be such a superstar."

Injury update

Running back DeMarco Murray watched practice on Tuesday, but did not participate. Murray had a hand procedure on his right ring finger last week, but is expected to be ready for training camp.

"The risk of infection, getting sweaty, somebody bumping it," Mularkey said of Murray. "I walked out and saw him in the walk-through and I pulled him out of the walk-through. He would do more, but why?"

Safety Johnathan Cyprien suffered what Mularkey called a slight ankle sprain on Tuesday and did not finish.

"It don't think it's anything to be concerned about," Mularkey said. "I don't think it's serious."

Receiver Tajae Sharpe is out of his cast and in a walking boot. He was getting around on a scooter in the locker room after practice.

Linebacker Kevin Dodd (foot) and defensive lineman Karl Klug (Achilles) aren't taking part in this week's minicamp.

Former Titans linebacker Tim Shaw, an honorary member of the team who is battling ALS, was taken off the field during practice after getting bumped and knocked over during an interception return. Shaw later returned.

"(Tim) was worried about the receiver that ran into him – he thought he hurt him," Mularkey said with a smile. "But that's Tim. He's a tough guy. He's tough as nails. He was back out there and in good spirits."
