NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan returned to the practice field on Wednesday.

It was Lewan's first appearance in uniform since suffering a concussion in the season opener at Miami, which sidelined him for the Houston game.

Lewan worked one-on-one with coach Mike Vrabel on the practice field early, and showed right out of the gate he still has his sense of humor.

"He told me I lost a step," Vrabel said of Lewan. "I said, "No kidding. I am 43 years old. If you can't block me, we're in trouble against (Jaguars defensive end Yannick) Ngakoue."

Lewan still has to get clearance from a medical standpoint before he's cleared from the concussion protocol. Until then, he's also not cleared to speak to reporters.

Lewan was listed as limited on the team's Injury Report.

"It was good," Vrabel said of Lewan's return. "He still has to get that last clearance from the outside doctor, which hopefully will come tomorrow. And then we can move forward. But it was good to get him out there and doing some stuff today."

Emergency QB?

Marcus Mariota and Blaine Gabbert are the top two quarterbacks on the roster, and the team has Logan Woodside on the practice squad for practices.

On game days, who would be the emergency QB?

Vrabel was asked that question after practice.

"We could go with Darius (Jennings), we could go with Derrick (Henry) – he played quarterback (in the Wildcat) last week," Vrabel said. "Kevin Byard, he threw a pass the other day. Somebody has to get the third headset, they only give you three. Last week I think it was Darius."

Vrabel said it's not hard to find volunteers.

"Everybody said they played quarterback in high school," Vrabel said.

Injury Report

Right tackle Jack Conklin (knee) was also limited in Wednesday's session.

"Jack did some stuff, and took some reps," Vrabel said. "Both (Taylor and Conklin) were limited today, so it would be great to get as many guys back as we possibly could."

Running back Derrick Henry (back), quarterback Marcus Mariota (elbow) and tight end Luke Stocker (calf) were all limited in Wednesday's session, along with safety Kendrick Lewis (calf), who practiced for the first time in the regular season.

Tackle Dennis Kelly (illness) and running back David Fluellen (groin) did not practice. Vrabel said Kelly will need to be cleared by doctors to return to practice after being hospitalized late last week.

"Dennis is not yet with us," Vrabel said. "He is out of the hospital, but he is not in the building with us right now. I would anticipate that happening later in the week."
