NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans just wrapped up practice on Monday at Saint Thomas Sports Park.

On Sunday, the team will face the Chicago Bears in preseason game No.3.

Sharpe Returns**

Titans receiver Tajae Sharpe practiced for the first time since June, and he loved every minute of it.

The Titans removed Sharpe from the team's Physically Unable to Perform list earlier in the day.

"It's one of the best feelings I've had in a minute," Sharpe said. "Just being back out there, being able to compete with my teammates, it was great. Now I want to go out there and make plays for the team.

"I felt good. Now I just have to get my legs underneath me – I haven't been able to be out there running around since OTAs, so I know I have a lot of work to do. But I am just glad to be back out there."

Sharpe suffered a foot injury in June, and had surgery. He's been rehabbing the injury since. On Monday morning, Sharpe passed a physical and was cleared to begin practicing with the team.

A fifth-round pick from Massachusetts last year, Sharpe made a nice contribution in his rookie season. He played in all 16 games – with 10 starts – and hauled in 41 passes for 522 yards and two touchdowns.

"I was pretty impressed with him," coach Mike Mularkey said of Sharpe. "We worked him out this morning again one more time for safety measures and to make sure we were making the right decision bringing him off. He worked out great. I'm anxious to see how he responds to this practice. He took a number of reps, but I'm pretty pleased.

"One thing, he's got to get in football shape and the best way to do that is to be out here. The way we condition by going to the ball every play, that's the best way to get in shape. You can run all you want on a treadmill, but there's nothing like being out here."

Injuries

Receiver Mekale McKay, receiver Jonathan Krause, cornerback Tye Smith, defensive back Curtis Riley, fullback Jalston Fowler, long snapper Beau Brinkley, linebacker Nate Palmer, receiver Corey Davis and receiver Eric Decker did not practice on Monday because of injuries.

In addition to Sharpe, defensive lineman Karl Klug and receiver Rishard Matthews were back on the practice field. Running back DeMarco Murray also practiced.

"They came out doing a little more than they've been doing," Mularkey said of Murray and Klug. "Now they get a rest day tomorrow and come back out here Wednesday and see where they are. I'm pretty encouraged by both of them."

Mularkey seemed to temper expectations surrounding Davis. On Sunday, he indicated Davis is on track to play in the team's fourth preseason game, but on Monday the head coach made it clear the team won't rush him back.

"We're being smart with him," Mularkey said of Davis. "It's a day-by-day thing. I think he's in a good position right now. I don't know when that day is, I wish I could tell you that, I wish he knew. We'll be overly cautious with him. We want him for the regular season games."

Bears game

The Titans face the Bears on Sunday in preseason game No.3.

Mularkey said he expects the team's starters to play at least a half.

On Monday, Mularkey was asked what he looks for in the third game of the preseason.

"There's more planning on both sides,'' he said. "They, like us, will have a full week to plan against each other. You're not going to show what you're going to do regular season wise, but you've got more time to scheme against what they do. And your starters will play more than they have in the first two."
