The Tennessee Titans hosted more than 25 high school coaches in collaboration with the Minority Coaching Association of Tennessee for a 'Diversity Coaching Summit' at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park. The participating coaches represented over 20 schools across the state.
"The Tennessee Titans organization is always looking for new ways to champion any cause dedicated to the continued elevation of diverse populations within the game of football," said Josh Corey, Titans Senior Director of Marketing & Social Responsibility. "The Diversity Coaching Summit is an excellent way to bring together some of the best coaches from across our state and offer instruction at the highest level from the Titans coaching staff. This event aims to arm Tennessee coaches with tools to develop top talent at their schools, while also nurturing their growth as coaches and mentors."
The Diversity Coaching Summit featured remarks and coaching from Tennessee Titans General Manager Ran Carthon, Head Coach Mike Vrabel, Outside Linebackers Coach Ryan Crow, Run Game Coordinator/Running Backs Coach Justin Outten and Director of Sports Performance, Frank Piraino. Coaches also participated in an educational session led by Glenn Terry, Director of Outreach and Strategic Partnerships at the NCAA.
Participating coaches discussed topics like scheduling practices and meetings, establishing and empowering staff, talent evaluation, and utilizing nutrition and strength training to impact player safety and development. Coaches also sat in on key position meetings with Titans coaches and players. The event aimed to offer professional development and networking opportunities for local coaches, as well as provide instruction for how to grow players and football programs.
The day culminated in high school coaches attending the first day of Titans mini-camp and chatting with Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk as well as other key coaches from the organization.
