NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans will again team up with the Nashville YWCA Weaver Domestic Violence Shelter to host a stadium drive, "Undie Sunday" at LP Field as the Titans take on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, October 30th at noon.
The YWCA Weaver Domestic Violence Shelter needs new women's undergarments for their shelter residents. Titans fans attending the game are asked to bring: NEW women's underwear, socks and bras of all sizes.
The collection will take place from 10:00AM – 12:30PM. The YWCA will have volunteers stationed at the seven charity drop sites around LP Field to collect donations.
This is the fourth drive the Titans have hosted for the YWCA to help collect undergarments for the women and children at the shelter. Last year the YWCA Weaver Center served 380 women and children providing over 15,811 nights of safety and healing. The new undergarments are distributed to shelter residents, who often leave their homes with very few personal belongings. The YWCA helps families leave abusive households and start new lives. The YWCA exists to educate, encourage and break down those barriers that perpetuate racism, violence and hopelessness.
"Our ongoing relationship with the Titans helps the YWCA raise awareness about domestic violence in Middle Tennessee." noted YWCA CEO, Pat Shea. "The Tennessee Titans help us provide safety and healing to women and children who are leaving violent homes."
The Tennessee Titans have developed a relationship with the YWCA over the last several years through various events, appearances and efforts by the Titans Women's Association. Titans players and wives have held various events to benefit the YWCA in addition to the Titans Women's Association hosted the women and children from the YWCA Domestic Violence Shelter for a special dinner event. The Titans fans have continually shown why they are the best in the NFL by participating in donation drives to help fellow Tennesseans who are less fortunate and will continue their collections with the Second Harvest Food Drive on Nov. 6th vs. Bengals; the Titans annual Coat Drive on Nov. 27th vs. Eagles and Toys for Tots Drive on Dec. 11th vs. Jaguars.
Joining the Titans this year as gameday charity drive partners is American Paper & Twine, a business partner with the Titans. American Paper & Twine will provide trucks and drivers to collect and then deliver items for all of the charity drives, eliminating the costs and services previously incurred by the individual charities.
"We are very pleased with the fact that American Paper & Twine have stepped up to join us in our efforts to help our neighbors with these drives," said Titans Executive Vice-President Don MacLachlan. "The Doochin family (owners of the company) have a great tradition of charitable efforts and this is another outstanding example of their willingness to help others."
"American Paper & Twine Co. is honored to be able to reach out and help people in need by assisting both the Titans and their charitable partners in these game-day drives," said Bob Doochin, President and CEO of the company.
American Paper & Twine Company's tradition of trust began over 83 years ago in 1926 when two young men, Nathan Doochin and Milton Lockenbach, saw an opportunity to create a niche in the expanding Nashville wholesale market. Eighty-three years later, American Paper & Twine has become a leader in the wholesale distribution of office, packaging, janitorial and food service products.
