Still Without Electricity After Weekend Storms, Titans Center Ben Jones Moves into Nashville Home of QB Ryan Tannehill

NASHVILLE – Like so many across Middle Tennessee, Titans center Ben Jones lost his power during the weekend storms, and as of Thursday, he was still among those without electricity.

Fortunately for Jones, a teammate – quarterback Ryan Tannehill -- has helped him out.

Straight line winds as high as 60 to 70 miles per hour knocked out power lines, downed trees and interrupted power to more than 130,000 customers in the Nashville-area on Sunday.

"We're still out of power, and I have a great teammate who is not staying in Nashville right now, so we are staying at his house – Tannehill came in clutch for us because it got a little cold yesterday," Jones said on a Zoom call on Thursday. "So, we roughed it out for three days, and last night we got to come over here and we got some hot water and a little TV."

Tannehill, who signed a new contract with the team in March after guiding the Titans to the AFC Championship Game in his first season in Tennessee in 2019, has been staying at his home in Fort Lauderdale this offseason. Tannehill kept the home after spending his first seven seasons with the Dolphins.

The temporary house change has thrown yet another wrench into the offseason workout routine for Jones, but he's adjusting during the coronavirus pandemic. NFL players currently aren't able to work out at team facilities, so they're working out on their own.

Jones has a weight room in his garage, and he's also been creative.

"I do a Zoom workout every morning at 5:30 – I try to get in there and work out before our kids get up," Jones said. "We have four guys in there, with a trainer in there, so I'm going through a program. And mainly I'm trying to be innovative with how to run, because you don't have a field like you normally have. So, I have a Peloton bike that I use a couple of times a week. I bought a sled that I am pushing in the yard. I am running sprints on the driveway, through the neighborhood. I try to get up early and do it so I don't have a whole bunch of people out there watching me."

Jones said he's looking forward to the 2020 season.

The NFL schedule will be released on Thursday night.

"Last year wasn't good enough, and we're trying to go from good to great," Jones said. "We're trying to take that next step, and we want to do everything possible."
