Six Things that Stood Out from Third Week of OTAs

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans wrapped up their organized team activities this week, practicing four times at Saint Thomas Sports Park.

All 10 OTAs are now in the books. Next up is a three-day minicamp, which begins on Tuesday.

Here's a look at six things that stood out this week:

**

Corey Davis**

The big and physical receiver increased his workload this week, and he made a lot more plays. Davis, the fifth overall pick in the draft, showed glimpses of his ability during the first few weeks of the offseason. But I saw more from him this week. He snatched footballs out of the air, and looked explosive when he turned to run. Coach Mike Mularkey said he should be off the injury report next week.

Adoree Jackson'

Titans defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau raved about Jackson's speed this week, and yeah, he's noticeably fast. But Jackson got my attention this week for his play aggressive play in coverage. He went up high to make a spectacular break-up in the end zone one day, and I noticed him around the ball a lot in competition. The guy is athletically gifted for sure, and I've noticed it even more up close of late.

**

Casts, and injuries**

Something else I noticed around the facility this week: casts. DeMarco Murray is now wearing one on his right hand, and back-up quarterback Matt Cassel has reduced the size of the splint on his right hand. Receiver Tajae Sharpe is recovering from recent foot surgery. Murray's surgery repaired an old injury to his right ring finger, while Cassel hurt his thumb in practice, and he's recovering from surgery as well. Sharpe discovered the injury after dealing with pain. The good news here is all three players have time to recover before training camp begins at the end of next month

Alex Tanney

Marcus Mariota has made great progress, and during the course of the last three weeks he's looked a lot smoother, and comfortable. He said on Thursday he expects to be back to 100 percent by training camp. Quarterback Alex Tanney has taken advantage of the extra time. Practices have been crisp on offense because Tanney has been accurate, he's made quick decisions and he hasn't made many mistakes. He's earned some props from those around him, including Mariota.

**

Jayon Brown**

Brown brings an extra dimension to the defense from the linebacker position. The fifth-round pick from UCLA may be undersized (6-0, 226), but he's been flying around making plays in practices. Brown has a great chance to work his way onto the field early, because he'll be an asset due to his ability in coverage. When veteran Brian Orakpo was asked recently about guys who've stood out to him, he named Brown.

I listed Henry in the list of standouts last week, and I'm putting him back on the list again. With Murray sidelined, the second-year running back is another guy who has taken advantage of increased opportunities. Henry has looked good hitting the hole, and he's caught the ball well out of the backfield. Henry is in great shape, and time and again this week I noticed him streaking down the sidelines looking like a locomotive.
