Steve Watterson (Assistant Head Coach/Strength & Conditioning) will address the importance of proper conditioning and hydration.
Dr. Jason Hubbard will also present current information on concussion safety. Dr. Hubbard is a neurosurgeon with the Howell Allen Clinic and the concussion expert for Baptist Sports Medicine. Dr. Hubbard, in conjunction with Baptist Sports Medicine, established the first concussion program in middle Tennessee for high school athletes. The program utilizes the same cognitive testing that is now mandated by the NFL. Dr. Hubbard is the team neurosurgeon for 22 high schools and 3 universities. He is a board certified neurosurgeon with the American Board of Neurological Surgery, Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Tennessee Neurosurgical Society and Nashville Surgical Society.
Following those group presentations, participants will have the opportunity to talk strategy with the Titans position coaches in break-out sessions. Once the classroom sessions are complete, the action resumes outdoors where Titans coaches will provide instructions on specific drills and techniques.
For the third consecutive year, Munchak will give high school coaches the opportunity to submit in advance the topics they would like to have discussed during the clinic. The clinic's registration page includes the opportunity to submit their suggestions. Munchak and his staff will review those suggestions and incorporate some of the material into their sessions.
"I've participated in all of our previous clinics and it's a great opportunity for our staff to share ideas and concepts with high school coaches from our area," said Munchak. "The time we have on the field with our players is always a highlight of the clinic and we're excited to have that element on this year's schedule."
Registration is set for 10:15 a.m. Coach Munchak will welcome the guests prior to the Titans OTA at 11 a.m.
All activities will be held at Baptist Sports Park, 460 Great Circle Road, Nashville, TN 37228.
