AHHH, Super Bowl day!!!! SO EXCITED! We are splitting up into two groups. Half of the group will be staying at Fort Wainwright, and the other half of are leaving earlier and heading back to Eielson Air Force Base to kick off the day with lunch with some of the troops here and then watch the big game! On our way, we stopped to see what is known as "The Lady of the Lake." This is where a B-29 crashed into the lake and was frozen into the water. There are, however, still pieces that you can see sticking out of the water! It was a heart racing moment when we were told we were standing in the middle of a frozen lake!! YIKES!! First time ever experiencing something like that!
We were surprised after lunch with a trip to the Archery for some bow and arrow lessons. This was all of our first time doing this. Surprisingly, we all were pretty precise!
Then, GAME TIME! We were spoiled with a crowd of excited NFL fans! Everyone wore his or her favorite teams' jerseys and was just full of energy! It really got us amped up! We held a raffle after each quarter, giving away various prizes from a GoPro to an Xbox and others. The opportunity to come together and share the same passion was an incredible feeling. There was no better way to spend Super Bowl than with our troops! I did not want this day to end!
All of us on ProTour Productions and Armed Forces Entertainment then met back up at the hotel to get ready for our final team dinner at a locally owned place called Silver Gulch. We all expressed how close we felt to one another and how we truly felt like a family. We recapped our trip and reminisced on all of the amazing adventures we experienced. We were all SO sad to end our journey together!
