NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans were back on the field on Saturday at Nissan Stadium for their ninth practice of training camp.
Here's a look at what stood out:
- A crowd estimated at 7,000 turned out for the practice.
- The Titans spent most the practice working on "situational football," so a lot of the work was performed at a lower speed.
- New Titans safety Kenny Vaccaro was decked out in uniform, but didn't take part in drills. Coach Mike Vrabel said after practice the Titans plan to work him into practices next week and said he could play on Thursday night at Green Bay in the preseason opener.
- Dane Cruikshank and Kevin Byard worked with the first team defense at the safety position.
- Michael Campanaro, Adoree' Jackson and Denotay Burnett all lined up to return punts.
- Receiver Corey Davis caught a nice pass from quarterback Marcus Mariota early in the session. Later, Davis hauled in a catch on the sideline.
- Tight end Delanie Walker scored on a short touchdown catch from Mariota.
- Receiver Deontay Burnett had a busy day, catching passes from Mariota and quarterback Blaine Gabbert. He made a really nice grab near the goalline.
- Receiver Devin Ross caught a pair of short touchdown passes in a red zone drill.
- Tight end Jonnu Smith caught a touchdown pass from Gabbert, and a few plays later receiver Darius Jennings scored in a red zone period.
- Cornerback Malcolm Butler made a nice breakup on a sideline pass thrown by Mariota, intended for receiver Taywan Taylor.
- Safety Bryden Trawick broke up a pass near the end zone.
- Mariota connected with receiver Nick Williams for touchdown catch, with Jackson defending.
- Kicker Ryan Succop converted on tries of 46, 47 and 53 yards.
- Linebacker Derrick Morgan, receiver Michael Campanaro, and linebacker Jayon Brown all returned to practice.
- Linebacker Brian Orakpo and linebacker Rashaan Evans did not practice.
