NASHVILLE – Outfitted in No. 26, new Titans safety Quandre Diggs took the field on Wednesday for the first time in Tennessee.
He mingled with his new teammates, took directions from the team's coaching staff, and he immediately began doing what he's done throughout his playing career – make plays.
Diggs showed up in his first practice, closing in on a swing pass in a hurry while working in drills. During breaks in the action, he chatted with coaches.
Afterward, he made it clear he's in Tennessee to make a difference.
"There's no 'stage' of my career," Diggs said. "I'm 31. People act like you get to 30 and you can't play dead. I play well. I do all the things that you need me to do. I go get the football, I have been very consistent in that, top 10, top 5, in the last however many years. I go get the football.
"I want to be physical, and I want to tackle. I want to do those things, but I also want to help guys learn the game. I am very cerebral with what I do. I take this seriously. This is my job, and when I am dialed in, and when I'm ready to go, it's go time."
Diggs (5-9, 197), a three-time Pro Bowler (2020, 2021, 2022) who has played with the Lions (2015-2019) and Seahawks (2019-2023), said he remained in touch with General Manager Ran Carthon and defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson on a regular basis over the past few months.
Things finally came together on Tuesday, and now he's happy to be a Titan.
"It's been a process," Diggs said. "But this was definitely the best place for me, just knowing the caliber of coach Dennard. I have friends that he's coached who have spoken highly of him. It's one of those things that worked out – he wanted me here, and I wanted to be here also.
"I think: Let's go get after 'em, let's go be aggressive, let's go get the football and let's go be physical."
In 137 career games, with 112 starts, Diggs has made a lot of plays.
Diggs has totaled 580 career tackles with 24 interceptions and 56 pass break-ups, along with five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Diggs tallied 95 tackles with an interception in 2023 with the Seahawks, where he started all 17 games.
His 24 interceptions between 2017 and 2023, rank fifth in the league over that period, and he was the only NFL player to record at least three interceptions in each season between 2017 and 2022. He has started 112 NFL games, including 67 consecutive games, and has been a team captain three times (2019, 2022, 2023).
Heading into Year 10, he's still hungry, and motivated.
"I tell everybody this: I was a sixth-round pick, 200(th overall)," Diggs said. "I've always had a chip on my shoulder. I've always felt the things that I do, nobody expected me to do. But I expected it of myself.
"I am here to compete, and I am here to work."
