NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans and the organizers of the St. Jude Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon presented by Nissan, today announced a partnership and launch of a new 5k running event to kickoff the 2012 NFL season on Saturday, August 25.
"The Tennessee Titans are excited to partner with the Competitor Group on our first 5K run at LP Field," said Don MacLachlan, Executive Vice President of the Tennessee Titans. "We welcome the opportunity to host this fun community event as we kickoff the 2012 NFL season and are looking forward to a successful event where our fans can celebrate a healthy and active lifestyle as well as an enjoyable visit to our beautiful stadium."
"For 14 years the Country Music Marathon has been an exciting tradition in Nashville, and this new race with the Tennessee Titans is another opportunity to encourage health and fitness in our community," Mayor Karl Dean said. "I am pleased to see terrific running events built around country music, and, now the Titans – which are both a big part of who we are as Music City."
Each race participant will receive a ticket to one of 3 select Titans games of their choice- Indianapolis Colts on 10/28, Houston Texans on 12/2, or Jacksonville Jaguars on 12/30. All participants will also receive a Nike branded "Titans 5k" running shirt. The event will also include a NFL 'Play 60' half mile fun run for kids.
