NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Linebacker Moise Fokou, on behalf of his Root 53 Foundation, was hard at work last week after Thanksgiving, putting on a series of Workshops for under-served youth.
December kicked off with the Monday Mixer at Churchwell Elementary School. The beautiful and talented country singer Kristen Kelly brought her singing songwriting genius, and accompanying her was the multi-talented instrumentalist Zach Runquist, who is adeptly skilled on the fiddle, mandolin, guitar and a series of other instruments. The Tennessee State University Cheerleaders rounded out the event with movement exercises.
Fokou's Root 53 held a menu challenge at Glencliff High School in which students were challenged to collaborate and design menus based on a number of varying real life scenarios. Trainers from the Nashville Athletic Club also came to give some hands-on experience, and information about their career field.
The week ended with a Root 53 Workshop with the PACE, (Pencil Academy & Career Enrichment) and YMCA after-school programs through the Mayor's Office's NAZA (Nashville After Zone Alliance) Initiatives. The students learned how to cook simple healthy foods with the immensely popular Carlos Davis of Riffs Catering, and Java from Hummus Chick. Moise also came to speak with the students about education, and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.
Fokou has also visited Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital this season, visiting with parents of premature babies.

The Root 53 Foundation which was founded by Tennessee Titans middle linebacker Moise Fokou focuses on providing educational aid to under-served youth, particularly in Tennessee.
