Titans' defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks took time from his vacation to visit to a group of special young ladies who participate in the YWCA Girls Inc. summer camp on Wednesday. The visit by Marks was part of the organization's fitness and wellness program.
"The YWCA Girls Inc. camp emphasizes the importance of physical education," said Morlunda Lattimore, Director of Youth Service of the YWCA of Middle Tennessee. "We do our best not to make exercise a chore and keep it fun."
Teaching the importance of staying fit, eating healthy and also building confidence, the campers work out Monday – Friday for at least 45 minutes per session. The Girls Inc. camp leaders find various fun ways to exercise, such as hip-hop dance, kickball, dodge ball, jump rope and hula hooping.
During his visit, the defensive tackle focused more teaching the young ladies the importance and proper way to warm up before a workout. Marks walked and talked the ladies through several warm-up exercises.
"It was great to team up with Girls Inc.," Marks said. "I have sisters and more women in my family than men, and growing up, there were not a lot of activities specified for girls. It's great Girls Inc. is getting the young ladies active. I hope they continue to exercise and enjoy different activities, as well as continued success in everything they do."
