NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Mothers Against Drunk DrivingĀ® (MADD) Tennessee is kicking off the first year of its game-day designated driver program with the Tennessee Titans at Sunday's game vs. San Francisco.

MADD has a nationwide partnership with the National Football League, part of which includes game-day designated driver programs with 14 teams across the country.

The game-day program encourages Titans fans to plan ahead for a non-drinking designated driver before the game begins. MADD Tennessee volunteers will be circulating through the parking lots during the pre-game tailgating timeframe, then stationed at designated driver sign-up booths during the game. They will be handing out information urging fans to "play the most important position in the NFL ā€” the designated driver."

MADD Tennessee and the Titans want to promote a safe game-day fan experience. Drunk driving is 100 percent preventable ā€” yet in 2011, 257 people in Tennessee were killed in drunk driving crashes and nearly 10,000 people were killed in drunk driving crashes nationwide.
