NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Titans nose tackle Sammie Hill, offensive tackle Taylor Lewan and safety Da'Norris Searcy headlined the Academy Sports + Outdoor Titans Caravan on Monday, May 4, the second day of the team's annual trip through the Mid-South. The Caravan stopped Monday in the communities of Columbia, Tenn., Florence, Ala., and Madison, Ala.
The Titans' trio began the day with a 3 p.m. public autograph signing at Kroger in Columbia and then traveled to Buffalo Wild Wings in Florence for a 5:30 public stop. The day concluded with a public visit at Academy Sports + Outdoors at 6:30 p.m. in Madison.
Hill is entering his third season with the Titans after arriving from the Detroit Lions as an unrestricted free agent in 2013. The West Blocton, Ala., native started 15 games at nose tackle in 2014 and tallied a career-high 47 tackles, a career-best three sacks, eight quarterback pressures, seven stops for loss and six passes defensed. The 6-foot-4-inch, 329-pounder sealed the Titans' victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars last season by blocking Josh Scobee's 55-yard field goal attempt with 12 second left to play in the game. In his first season with the Titans in 2013, Hill saw action in 13 games with 10 starts at defensive tackle and tallied career-highs with 40 tackles and seven passes defensed.
Lewan is entering his second NFL campaign. With the 11th overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Titans selected the former Michigan left tackle. The 6-foot-7-inch, 309-pound lineman possesses the measurables, athleticism and commitment to be a mainstay in the lineup for years to come. As a rookie in 2014, Lewan appeared in 11 games with six starts at left tackle and was named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie team.
At the start of the 2015 NFL free agency period, the Titans showed interest in Searcy and before the conclusion of his first day on the open market, the two sides had agreed to terms on a deal that brought the four-year veteran to Nashville. The University of North Carolina product was originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. The 5-foot-11-inch, 207-pounder arrives in Tennessee coming off the two best seasons of his career where he appeared in 31 games with 20 starts with the Bills and amassed 127 tackles, 3.5 sacks, four interceptions and 12 passes defensed from 2013-2014.
Academy Sports + Outdoors Titans Caravan public stops are free events that allow fans to meet players, T-Rac, cheerleaders and the "Voice of the Titans" Mike Keith. Posters are provided at no cost to all Caravan attendees for autographs, and photos are encouraged. Public stops generally last one hour.
Titans Caravan began in 1998 as a small effort to spread goodwill through the region. Today, nine full-time staffers travel with Titans players and T-Rac through the Mid-South on a specially-decorated motor coach. Since 1998, the Caravan has made over 800 stops and allowed the team to interact directly with an estimated audience well in excess of 200,000 fans.
