Kendall Wright: I Can be a 90-catch, 1,000-yard Guy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Kendall Wright's season started with a bang.

The Titans receiver had 101 receiving yards and a touchdown in a season-opening win at Tampa Bay, and two weeks later he turned in a seven-catch, 95-yard day against Indianapolis, with another score.

His fantasy football owners surely began to brag a bit.

But Wright's season turned into more of a nightmare. He wouldn't topple 50 receiving yards in any game the rest of the way, in large part because of injuries – he missed six games

"I was disappointed,'' Wright said. "I've had injuries that I couldn't play through. It was disappointing that I couldn't be out there and do anything. My goal is to get healthy and stronger and be ready to come back next year."

Wright had just 408 receiving yards and three touchdowns, on 36 catches, in 2015. The totals were the lowest in his NFL career.

Wright played in just 10 games as he dealt with rib and knee injuries during the season.

A first round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Wright believes he can still produce big numbers. Wright had his best season in 2013, when he caught 94 passes for 1,079 yards.

"I just have to go out there and make plays,'' Wright said. "I would love to have 90-plus catches and 1,000 yards, and I think I can do that. Personally I think I can do that every year I am playing in this league. I'll let everything fall in place but I definitely think I could be a 90-plus, 80-plus catch and 1,000 yards (player) every year, I really believe that."

More than anything, Wright wants to win.

Wright is heading into the final year of the contract he signed as a rookie. He believes the team, despite a 3-13 finish in 2015, is capable of turning things around rather quickly.

"I have been losing since I came into the NFL. We have won some games, but the main thing is to win, and for me is to get healthy so I can go out there and perform at a high level,'' Wright said.

"We lost (four) games by three points or less, so we are real close. All we have to do is finish the whole game and make plays throughout the game so it doesn't have to be that close… We have a lot of players in here that are hungry to win, a lot of players who can make a lot of plays."
