Chris Johnson was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week after his record-setting, 228-yard rushing day vs. Jacksonville. |
"It's nice," Johnson said of being honored. "Last time when I had a big game, I didn't win it, so it's nice to come back and finally get it this time."
Johnson, who leads the NFL with 824 rushing yards, broke the previous Titans/Oilers single-game rushing mark of 216 yards which was held by Billy Cannon and Eddie George. Johnson gave the Titans a 20-13 lead with a 52-yard touchdown run with 11:00 remaining in the third quarter. He set the franchise mark with an 89-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter – the third-longest run in team history.
This is Johnson's first AFC Offensive Player of the Week award and the first for the Titans since Chris Hope garnered AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his Week 8 performance against Indianapolis last season.
