Game Notes

HASSELBECK STARTS, FOLLOWED BY LOCKER: Matt Hasselbeck, Tennessee's starter for all 16 games in 2011, played the first two series for the Titans and completed five of nine passes for 45 yards.  Second-year quarterback Jake Locker then entered the contest for the third series. He played the remainder of the first half and completed seven of 13 passes for 80 yards and a 72.6 passer rating.

SACKS BY SECOND-YEAR DTs: Second-year defensive tackle Karl Klug helped end Seattle's first offensive series with a five-yard sack of Matt Flynn.  As a rookie in 2011, Klug led the Titans with seven sacks. In the second quarter, another second-year defensive tackle, Zach Clayton, dropped Flynn for a four-yard loss.

McCARTHY INTERCEPTION: In the second quarter, middle linebacker Colin McCarthy intercepted a Matt Flynn pass and returned the ball 11 yards to give the Titans possession in Seattle territory.

LONG BALL FOR MARIANI: In the third quarter, quarterback Rusty Smith and wide receiver Marc Mariani helped set up a touchdown with a 39-yard completion.  It was the longest play of the game from scrimmage for the Titans.

REYNAUD SCORES TWICE: With two touchdowns in the third quarter, fourth-year running back Darius Reynaud helped the Titans pull even with the Seahawks at 17-17.  Reynaud, who was signed as a free agent in January, first crossed the goal line on a 21-yard run.  A few minutes later, he caught a Jon Ryan punt and raced 85 yards for the equalizer.  Reynaud is in his fourth NFL season.  He has 23 total regular season games of experience with the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants.

WRIGHT GETS THE START: In his first NFL preseason game, rookie wide receiver Kendall Wright was in the starting lineup.  The 20th overall pick out of Baylor recorded his first catch in the second quarter on a 15-yard pass from Jake Locker.  He played through the first half and finished with three receptions for a team-high 47 yards.

OUT OF ACTION: The Titans had five total players who were ruled out of the game and were not in uniform due to injury: cornerback Terrence Wheatley, tight end Brandon Barden, defensive end Dave Ball, wide receiver Kenny Britt (PUP) and safety Markelle Martin.  Britt and Martin remain on the physically unable to perform list.

HOMECOMING: The Titans had a number of players and front office members with previous ties to the Seahawks and the Seattle area.  Sr. Executive VP/COO Mike Reinfeldt, Executive VP/General Manager Ruston Webster, VP of Player Personnel Lake Dawson and scout Tim Ruskell all were employed by the Seahawks prior to joining the Titans.  Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck played for the Seahawks for a decade, and quarterback Jake Locker attended the University of Washington from 2005-10.  Safety Jordan Babineaux and guard Steve Hutchinson also spent significant portions of their careers with the Seahawks.

DILES INTERCEPTION: Sixth-year linebacker Zac Diles came up with one of the game's biggest defensive plays.  The 2012 free agent signee, who has previously played for Houston, Tampa Bay and Indianapolis, intercepted quarterback Russell Wilson in the end zone.

SMITH'S STATS: Rusty Smith played the majority of the second half at quarterback for the Titans.  The third-year player and former sixth-round draft pick delivered a 7-of-10 passing performance for 76 yards and a 92.1 passer rating.
