NASHVILLE -- The Titans returned to the practice field on Friday at Saint Thomas Sports Park to continue preparations for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Here's a look at three quick hits from Friday:
Stepping Up
With tight end Delanie Walker limited to just five plays last week because of an ankle injury, the Titans needed their other tights ends to step up.
Enter Jonnu Smith.
Smith had a 24-yard catch on the team's first play from scrimmage, and he caught three passes for 64 yards in the game. He also picked up 35 yards after making a short catch in the contest.
Titans tight end Anthony Firkser has also made a pair of big catches in the past two weeks.
"That's what we are out here to do – to make plays when they come our way and take advantage of the opportunities presented to you," Smith said. "That's what I am going to do every Sunday.
"That's part of the game – one guy gets hurt and guys have to step up."
On the season, Smith has nine catches for 161 yards.
What's Up With Delanie?
Walker spent the week recovering, and rehabbing his ankle injury.
On Friday, he was officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
In speaking with reporters in the locker room on Friday, Walker said the ankle is the same one that ended his 2018 season, and needed surgery to repair last year.
"I am just trying to make sure I get (my ankle) back to normal," Walker said. "It's related to the dislocation I had in my ankle. I just banged it up pretty much. Surprisingly I went pretty far without injuring it, so that's a good sign.
"I knew it was going to come at one point where it was going to be really sore, or I would take some hits on it. … I knew I was going to get some type of bruise or soreness in my ankle, so I kind of put that in the back of my mind that it could occur."
Injuries
In addition to Walker, cornerback Adoree' Jackson (foot), cornerback Chris Milton (calf) and linebacker Sharif Finch (shoulder) have all been ruled out for Sunday's game.
Jackson's absence will pave the way for LeShaun Sims to have an increased role.
Linebacker Kamalei Correa (knee) was added to the injury report on Friday after being limited in practice, and he's questionable for Sunday's game.
Receiver Corey Davis (illness), linebacker Jayon Brown (groin), defensive lineman Jurrell Casey (shoulder), tackle Jack Conklin (quad), guard Nate Davis (rib), linebacker Rashaan Evans (shoulder), and linebacker Wesley Woodyard (ankle) all appeared on the Injury Report during the week, but they're all good to go.
