NASHVILLE – Former Titans center Kevin Mawae has a new gig – he's the new head football coach at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville.
The Hall of Famer was introduced at a press conference at the school this morning.
Mawae replaces Trent Dilfer, who guided the school to back-to-back Division II-AA state championships. Dilfer was hired by UAB in November.
Mawae, who played 16 NFL seasons, played for the Titans from 2006-2009. He earned eight Pro Bowl selections and seven first-team All-Pro selections in his career, when he also played for the Jets and Seahawks.
Mawae served as an assistant offensive line coach for the Chicago Bears in 2016, and in 2018 he was hired by Herman Edwards at Arizona State as a quality control analyst. In 2021, Mawae was hired by the Colts as an assistant offensive line coach, and he worked last season in Indianapolis as the team's interim tight ends coach.
