Darius Reynaud Named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. --Titans return man Darius Reynaud has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week after he returned a pair of punts for touchdowns in Tennessee's 38-20 victory over Jacksonville last Sunday at LP Field.

Reynaud gave the Titans a 21-14 lead late in the first half on on a 69-yard punt return for a touchdown, the first punt return for a TD of his career.

Then, two minutes into the third quarter, he scored again on an 81-yard punt return, giving the Titans a 28-14 advantage.

Reynaud set the franchise record and tied the NFL record with two punt return touchdowns in the same game. Only 13 NFL players had previously accomplished the feat, most recently Reggie Bush on Oct. 6, 2008.

Reynaud now has three total career touchdowns.

"It feels good knowing where I came from. I never thought this would happen," Reynaud said after the game. "I'm glad that it happened in the last game of the season just to give those fans something to look forward to for next year."

It marked the second time Reynaud has earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

He captured the honor following Tennessee's Week 3 victory over the Detroit Lions when he set a franchise record by returning a kickoff 105 yards for a touchdown.  One week later, Reynaud was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September.

A long-shot to make Tennessee's roster entering training camp, Reynaud made his case for a permanent spot during the preseason when he led the Titans in rushing yards (146), rushing average (6.1), punt return yards (152), punt return average (25.3 -- also a league high) and kickoff return average (33.3). Reynaud's combined 456 yards during the preseason ranked fourth in the NFL.

In his fourth NFL season, the 5-foot-9, 201-pound Reynaud signed as a free agent with the Titans in January after stints with the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings.
