NASHVILLE – Titans coach Brian Callahan spoke to reporters before Wednesday's practice.
The team is scheduled to practice from 1:05 p.m.-2:35 p.m. today to prepare for Sunday's game at the Buffalo Bills.
Some real quick highlights on what Callahan, aka "Cally", said before I head to practice:
-Running back Tyjae Spears won't practice today because of his hamstring injury, said Callahan, who reiterated Spears is week-to-week.
-Defensive lineman Keondre Coburn (knee) won't practice today, and he's expected to be out again on Sunday.
-Callahan said, "there's some things we're working through that are still kind of ongoing," regarding safety Jamal Adams, who was placed on the team's Non-Football injury/Reserve list, over the weekend. "So" Callahan said, "I'll let that one go for now."
-When asked about the potential for a trade before the NFL's trading deadline, Callahan said Ran Carthon and Chad Brinker from personnel handle that side of it. Callahan said he has enough on his plate and getting the Titans ready to play the Bills.
-Titans assistant coach Chris Harris has missed the past two games for personal reasons. Callahan said he's hopeful Harris will return soon.
-Callahan said quarterback Will Levis is working to rebuild his confidence. "That's part of playing quarterback in the NFL," Callahan said. "Even when things are good, they are usually not always good for long. … You deal with ups and downs, and you can't allow your confidence to get shaken. You have to be resilient. You are going to face criticism as a quarterback in the NFL, you are going to have bad games, and you are going to have things that don't go your way. And, how you handle those things largely defines how you are able to bounce back from them."
-Callahan said he's happy with Dillon Radunz and how he's played at right guard, saying he's done a nice job in run game and pass protection. "To see Dillon start to thrive a bit at guard," Callahan said, "is something that we've needed from him."
-Callahan said he talked to receiver Calvin Ridley, who expressed some frustration over a lack of early targets early in games. Callahan said he understands Ridley's frustration, but he loves his passion, and he loves how he practices, and plays. "My message to him was simple," Callahan said. "(I told him): I understand the frustration, and I'm doing everything I can to continue to keep you going and get you active early in games, late in games, whenever that may be. … I sure as heck want him to be a huge part of what we're doing."
-The Bills traded for veteran receiver Amari Cooper, and Callahan said the Titans are preparing to face him right out of the gate, on Sunday. "We know what he is capable of," Callahan said. "How they use him remains to be seen, but we know what his strengths are."
-Callahan said the Bills (4-2) do a nice job on defense, and they're physical. Offensively, "they run the ball really well, and quarterback Josh Allen is playing at a high level, Callahan said, not turning the ball over, and not taking sacks. "They're playing a really good brand of football," Callahan said.
