NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Titans defenders Jurrell Casey, Jason McCourty and Derrick Morgan are scheduled to headline the Academy Sports + Outdoors Titans Caravan on Saturday, May 17, the sixth day of the team's annual trip through the Mid-South. The trio will team for three total stops in Middle Tennessee.
The day begins with an 11 a.m. stop at Kroger in Franklin (1203 Murfreesboro Road). Then, the Caravan heads to Academy Sports + Outdoors in Smyrna (1150 Genie Lane) at 1:30 p.m. The final Caravan stop of the day is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Kroger in Mount Juliet (401 S. Mount Juliet Road).
Academy Sports + Outdoors Titans Caravan public stops are free events that allow fans to meet players, T-Rac and the "Voice of the Titans" Mike Keith. Posters are provided at no cost to all Caravan attendees for autographs, and photos are encouraged. Public stops generally last one hour.
Casey is entering his fourth NFL season. In 2013, he was named Associated Press second-team All-Pro after putting together one of the best seasons by a defensive tackle in franchise history. His 10.5 sacks set a career high and made up the second-highest total by a franchise defensive tackle since sacks became an official statistic in 1982, finishing behind only Ray Childress' 13 sacks in 1992. In 2013, only Jason Hatcher of the Dallas Cowboys (11) finished with more sacks than Casey among defensive tackles. A third-round pick out of the University of Southern California in 2012, the Long Beach, Calif., native has played in 47 career games with 45 starts.
McCourty, a two-time defensive captain, is heading into his sixth NFL season. From the time he became a full-time starter at cornerback in 2011 through 2013, McCourty led the Titans in passes defensed (46) and ranked third in interceptions (six). In 2013, he started all 16 games for the second consecutive season and ranked second on the squad with 16 passes defensed. After a four-year career at Rutgers University, the Nyack, N.Y., native was selected by the Titans in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
Morgan was a first-round pick by the Titans out of Georgia Tech in 2010. In four NFL seasons as a defensive end, he has appeared in 50 games with 40 starts. He has 16.5 career sacks, including 12.5 over the last two seasons, and also boasts 48 career quarterback pressures. In 2013, Morgan played in 15 games with 14 starts and ranked second on the team with six sacks, eight quarterback pressures and three tackles for loss (tied). He is a native of Coatesville, Pa. Titans Caravan began in 1998 as a small effort to spread goodwill through the region. Today, seven full-time staffers travel with Titans players and T-Rac through the Mid-South on a specially-decorated motor coach. Since 1998, the Caravan has made over 800 stops and allowed the team to interact directly with an estimated audience well in excess of 150,000 fans.
