NASHVILLE – The Titans took the field for practice No.18 of training camp on Thursday at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park.
It was officially the final day of camp.
Here's a look at what stood out:
-Running back Derrick Henry has been somewhat limited in team drills during camp, getting some work here and there. Throughout camp, Henry has worked a bunch in individual drills, and in the sand pit. On Thursday, Henry got a lot of work in team drills, and let's just say he looks ready. Henry busted through the hole again and again, and he looked explosive. Henry won't play in the preseason finale on Saturday vs the Cardinals, but it's safe to say he'll be ready to go on Sunday, September 11, in the regular season opener against the Giants.
-Speaking of being ready, veteran receiver Robert Woods said after today's practice the knee he had ACL surgery on last year is no longer a thought. Woods has looked good in practices, and he said he's ready to go.
-New Titans defensive back Ugo Amadi, acquired in a trade on Wednesday, practiced with the team for the first time. Amadi, who prepped at John Overton High in Nashville, has been assigned No.38.
-Quarterback Ryan Tannehill completed 17-of-26 passes in 7-on-7 and team drills combined on Thursday, his best work coming in a 7-on-7 period midway through the session, when he connected with tight end Chig Okonkwo, tight end Austin Hooper, receiver Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and running back Dontrell Hilliard on touchdown tosses in the red zone. In 18 training camp practices – including work against the Buccaneers and Cardinals – Tannehill has completed 209-of-307 passes in 7-on-7 and team periods combined, with four total interceptions.
-Cornerback Kristian Fulton had his first interception of camp on Thursday when he picked off quarterback Logan Woodside on his thrown to Okonkwo. By my count, Titans defenders intercepted 10 passes in the 18 camp practices.
-Woodside got more work on Thursday compared to recent sessions, and his best throw was a touchdown toss to running back Julius Chestnut.
-Malik Willis had an up-and-down day. He was wide on back-to-back throws in a team period, and he was nearly picked off twice. Willis made some nice throws in a lower-speed period. The rookie QB said after practice he thinks he's made strides in camp.
-Kicker Randy Bullock ended camp on a high note, making kicks from 26, 30, 33, 33, 35, 40 and 43 yards. The 7-for-7 day made Bullock 81-of-88 in camp.
-The Titans worked in a lot of situational, end-of-game periods on Thursday, so I can't go into great detail on what actually transpired. But cornerbacks Caleb Farley and Fulton had some nice break-ups in this period.
-Nicholas Petit-Frere continues to get a lot of work at right tackle, while Jordan Roos has been getting a lot of work on a line that's banged-up at guard. Dillon Radunz has spent a good chunk of his time at guard as well.
-Kyle Philips and Mason Kinsey fielded punts in a punt return period.
-Defensive lineman Denico Autry, guard Jamarco Jones, guard Nate Davis, defensive back Elijah Molden, receiver Treylon Burks, defensive lineman Naquan Jones, tight end Tommy Hudson and defensive back A.J. Moore did not practice on Thursday.
-Linebacker Zach Cunningham practiced in a yellow non-contact jerseys.
-Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk watched practice from her perch atop Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park.
-Former Titans linebacker Tim Shaw attended Thursday's practice, along with a bunch of the team's Alumni. I snapped some photos of a lot of them below.
-Referees were on hand to work today's Titans practice.
-The Titans aren't scheduled to practice on Friday.
-The Titans will face the Cardinals in preseason game No.3 on Saturday at Nissan Stadium.
