20 Things That Caught My Eye On the First Unofficial Depth Chart For Titans in 2024

24-unofficial-depth

NASHVILLE – The Titans released their first 2024 Unofficial Depth Chart on Monday.

The word "Unofficial" is written in bold letters across the top, with the words, 'As of August 4, 2024' under it. Keep in mind the Titans aren't even two weeks into training camp, and they're over a month away from the regular season opener against the Bears on September 8 in Chicago.

So, yes, it's early.

On Saturday, the team will play its first preseason game against the 49ers at Nissan Stadium.

But, still, everyone loves taking a peek at the initial depth chart.

Here's a look at 20 things that caught my eye when I got my hands on it:

-Mason Rudolph is listed as the No.2 quarterback, behind starter Will Levis. Malik Willis is listed as the No.3 quarterback. This should not come as a surprise, considering Rudolph is a veteran who was signed early in free agency, and, so far, he's completed 84.2 percent of his passes in training camp.

-The Titans are listing a three-receiver set, with Calvin Ridley, Tyler Boyd and DeAndre Hopkins. Immediately behind each of them: Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Treylon Burks and Kyle Philips.

-Nicholas Petit-Frere is listed as the starting right tackle, ahead of John Ojukwu and Jaelyn Duncan.

-Saahdiq Charles is listed as the starting right guard, ahead of Dillon Radunz and Lachavious Simmons.

-Daniel Brunskill is listed as the back-up center, behind starter Lloyd Cushenberry. Brunskill, the team's starting right guard in 2023, is not listed as a guard on the initial depth chart.

-First-round pick JC Latham is listed the starter at left tackle, ahead of Geron Christian Sr. and then Leroy Watson IV.

-The Titans listed an offense with a two-tight end set on the initial depth chart last year. This year they list one tight end in the starting lineup, and it's split between Chig Okonkwo and Josh Whyle.

-Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears are also listed with a / separating them at running back, which means they're both listed as starters. Hassan Haskins is behind them, followed by Julius Chestnut, then Jabari Small.

-The depth chart on defense includes a 3-4 look, but also with five defensive backs, including a nickel defensive back.

-Rookie T'Vondre Sweat is listed as the starting nose tackle, with Quinton Bohanna right behind him.

-Chidobe Awuzie is listed as a starter at one cornerback spot, with L'Jarius Sneed on the other side. Tre Avery and Jarvis Brownlee Jr. are immediately behind them.

-Roger McCreary is listed as the starter at nickel, with Eric Garror listed directly behind him.

-Jack Gibbens is listed as a starter at inside linebacker, alongside Kenneth Murray Jr.

-Rookie Cedric Gray is listed behind Gibbens and Chance Campbell at one of the inside backer spots. Garret Wallow and Otis Reese IV are listed as immediate back-ups behind Murray.

-Rashad Weaver and Shane Ray are listed as the back-up outside linebackers behind starters Harold Landry III and Arden Key, with Jaylen Harrell and Caleb Murphy next in line.

-Safety Quandre Diggs doesn't appear on the unofficial depth chart, because he hasn't officially signed with the team. Diggs posted on social media he'd agreed to terms with the team, but the contract needs to be completed before he'll appear on the roster/depth chart.

-Jamal Adams is listed as the starter alongside Amani Hooker at safety, but the addition of Diggs could change this, or, at the least, generate another /. Elijah Molden is listed behind Hooker, while Mike Brown is behind Adams.

-Caleb Farley is listed behind Awuzie and Avery at one of the cornerback spots.

-Mason Kinsey is listed as No.1 on the dept chart at punt returner, ahead of Kearis Jackson and Kyle Philips.

-Tyjae Spears is listed at No.1 on the depth chart at kick returner, with no one behind him.
