Biography
PRO: The Titans signed Tay Martin to their practice squad a week into the 2024 campaign to add depth to the wide receiver corps. The 6-foot-3-inch, 185-pounder possesses the size and speed to compete at wide receiver at the NFL level. The Homa, La., native played in 60 career collegiate games between Washington State and Oklahoma State and amassed 238 receptions for 2,810 yards with 28 touchdowns.
TITANS TIDBITS:
• Martin had to overcome a great deal of adversity to get where he is today. During his junior year at Ellender Memorial (Houma, La.) High School, Martin's mother tragically passed away just months after his father went to prison. Martin, the eldest of four, despite having to take on a lot more in his personal life, still excelled athletically and acaemdically en route to earning a full scholarship to Washington State.
• Martin starred on the court in addition to the gridiron in high school. He was named the Class 4A Louisiana State High School Player of the Year as a senior.
CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• The Houma, La., native was originally signed by the San Francisco 49ers as a rookie free agent on May 13, 2022.
• Waived by the 49ers on Aug. 30, 2022 and signed to the team's practice squad a day later.
• Activated from the practice squad to the active roster standard elevation on Oct. 29, 2022.
• Activated from the practice squad to the active roster standard elevation on Dec. 31, 2022.
• Signed by the 49ers to a future's contract on Jan. 31, 2023.
• Waived by the 49ers on Aug. 29, 2023 and signed to the team's practice squad a day later.
• Activated from the practice squad to the active roster standard elevation on Dec. 30, 2023.
• Signed by the 49ers as a free agent on Feb. 13, 2024.
• Waived by the 49ers on Aug. 27, 2024 and signed to the team's practice squad a day later.

COLLEGE:
• Appeared in 21 games with 13 starts in two seasons at the Oklahoma State (2020-21) and registered 95 receptions for 1,195 yards with 10 touchdowns. Transferred to Oklahoma State from Washington State (2017-19) where he appeared in 39 games with 21 starts and added 143 receptions for 1,615 yards with 18 touchdowns.
• As a super senior (2021), started all 13 games at Oklahoma State and was named a second team All-Big 12 selection by the coaches and Associated Press. Finished with 1,046 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns on 80 catches, all of which led the team.
• As a senior (2020), saw action in eight games in his first season with the Cowboys and recorded 15 receptions for 149 yards. Had a breakout performance in the Cheez-It Bowl win over No. 18 Miami, making six catches for 73 yards in the one-possession win.
• As a junior (2019), appeared in all 13 games with seven starts at Washington State. Caught 43 passes for 564 yards with four touchdowns.
• As a sophomore (2018), started all 13 games at Washington State and tied for fifth in Pac-12 Conference and tied for the team lead with eight touchdown receptions. Recorded 69 receptions for 685 yards, both being the second-most on the team.
• As a freshman (2017), played in all 13 games with one start for the Cougars. Caught 31 passes for 366 yards with six touchdowns, tying the WSU single-season record for touchdown catches by a freshman.
• Majored in university studies at Oklahoma State.
PERSONAL:
• Attended Ellender Memorial (Houma, La.) High School.
• As a senior (2016), was named 4A All-State first-team by the Louisiana Coaches Association after catching 45 passes for 751 yards and eight touchdowns. Also rushed for 493 yards and five touchdowns. On defense, made 36 tackles and two interceptions. Totaled 18 touchdowns, returned a fumble recovery, an interception, two punts and a kickoff for touchdowns.
• As a junior (2015), caught 51 passes for 825 yards and seven touchdowns. Also made 71 tackles with two sacks and one interception.
• Was a four-year letterwinner in basketball and track (high jump). Selected as a three-time All-District first team selection in basketball.
• Has a daughter, Reign Christine.
• Has a brother, Zavean, and two sisters, Salae and Angelay.
