Biography

Tina Ruffin, formerly Tuggle, enters her 28th season and second as Vice President, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Officer. In this role, Ruffin works closely with football, business, and community leadership on DEI strategies to increase cultural components in the application and retention pipeline. Ruffin acts to ensure diversity, equity and inclusion are represented in all part of the decision-making process organizationally.

From 2015 – 2022, Ruffin oversaw teams Community Relations and in 2019 was named Vice President of Community Impact. In this role, Ruffin managed the development and implementation of all Titans community relations activations, alumni relations and Tennessee Titans Entertainment which includes cheerleaders, team mascot, and drumline.

In addition to existing programming, Ruffin enhanced the community relations department by prioritizing the presence of youth football in the community, as well as reconnecting and cultivating relationships with former Oilers/Titans players. Ruffin additionally handled all philanthropic contributions and programming aspects for the Titans Foundation.

Formerly the Director of Player Development from 2007-14, Ruffin assisted Titans players with continuing education, financial education, career internships and player assistance programs. Ruffin was the first female to serve in that capacity for both the Tennessee Titans and National Football League (NFL).

From 1998-2007, Ruffin served as the Executive Assistant to the Executive Vice President/General Manager and Director of Football Operations and worked closely with the team's player development initiatives. Additionally, she served as the players' insurance representative working in both the player personnel and scouting departments.

Behind Ruffin's contributions, the Titans' player development department won the Winston-Shell Award in 2006 for its innovation and commitment to player development. The department was also recognized as the NFL's Most Improved Player Development program from 1998-99 after her arrival.

In 2005, Ruffin was selected to represent the club at the NFL's Stanford Executive Training Program at the Stanford Business School, where she took part in upper-level management training. Ruffin was selected to participate in the Football Operations Personnel Symposium spring of 2007. Additionally, for the 2007-08 season, Ruffin won the NFL's Best Player's Assistance Program of the Year.

In 2009, Ruffin was appointed to the NFL Player Development Steering Committee. The purpose of the committee is to assist NFL Player & Employee Development by providing advice and opinions in matters related to off-field support of players and their families.

In 2011 and 2012, Ruffin was an active facilitator at the NFL-NCAA Life Skills Education and Professional Development Summit. This program's purpose was to foster best practices for development of student-athletes through education and training to support their personal development as well as program participation potentially impacting both growth and success.

In 2012, Ruffin completed a year-long executive education program to receive her certification as an Athlete-Development Professional. The NFL-Wharton Athlete Development Professional Certification, developed by Player Engagement and Wharton's Aresty Institute of Executive Education, provided extensive training and education in topic areas essential to working in the field of athlete development and the sports industry in general.

In 2017, Ruffin represented the Titans at the NFL Women's Summit, in conjunction with Super Bowl LI. The Summit was an interactive experience for young women to discuss how to achieve goals, prepare for challenges, and utilize tools critical for personal and professional development.

In 2021, Ruffin was appointed and currently serves on the NFL Club Advisory Council. The goal of the Advisory Council is to meet with leadership from the NFL's Social Responsibility and Foundation departments to foster a more consistent, collaborative, and constructive working relationship between the Clubs and the League.

In 2022, Ruffin was selected to participate in the Stanford – NFL 'League of Leaders' certification program. This program targets Club and League senior/executive-level personnel with the opportunity to build football business acumen and develop personal skills with peers across the NFL.

Some most recent recognitions include NFL Next Woman Up, NFocus Magazine Most Powerful Women, and Habitat Nashville Women Build Groundbreakers. Ruffin is also a 37th Midsouth Emmy Awards winner in the category of Societal Concerns. Ruffin was also featured in SI.com, article titled The Unknown Woman Behind The Titans Player Development .

In 2023, Ruffin was selected as a member of the Leadership Nashville 2023-24 class.

A native of Memphis, TN, Ruffin attended Tennessee State University and Bethel University for undergraduate studies and Liberty University for graduate school.

Tina and her husband, Demetrius, reside in Nolensville, TN.
