WIDE RECEIVER NICK WESTBROOK-IKHINE
You got along the home sideline there. What did you kind of see and how great of a ball was it from Will Levis to kind of get you open there?
Yeah, it was a great ball. Great decision too. I feel like it was high-IQ play, seeing the match up, knowing what coverage it was that we were anticipating, put a great ball out there. It was awesome, it was a cool feeling. I'll remember that as a Titan forever for sure.
How good did it feel to be able to kick in that nitrous oxide? We haven't seen that from you in a while.
It was fun. I haven't had a play like that in a while. It's been red zone stuff, but that was cool. That was awesome.
How tough was today, though? It seems like every time you guys made a big play there was that yellow flag on the turf. How demoralizing was that?
Yeah, it's tough. It did feel like that happened quite often. But we just got to clean up those details going forward and nothing we can do about them now. And then in the game, I feel like what was good that regardless of what was happening, we just kept swinging and I think that shows the resiliency of this team just to keep fighting regardless.
Is it tough though, in a game? Like I said, you guys fought your ass off today. Like I said, it was penalties and those mistakes, kept piling up.
Yeah, it's tough. There's no moral victories in the NFL. It's wins and losses. I would say the only thing we can take away is the way we fought, regardless of the mistakes and penalties that didn't go our way.
Run us through the route that you had on that touchdown. What kind of developed as you ran that?
It was just a go ball, and the corner jumped on the out route and then Will (Levis) just put it in a great spot. It really wasn't anything too crazy, it was kind of backyard football-ish, I'd say. But it was a great read by Will to know what the corner was about to do.
Will got a little emotional in his press conference. He was talking about how he hasn't even been able to get the team a win. How do you continue to go through these struggles but stay positive and keep this team up as you have the final stretch of the season coming up?
Just keep going to work. I like what Hook [Amani Hooker] said after this game: who are you as a man? This is not going our way. But that's life. Sometimes stuff doesn't go your way, but you just got to wake up every morning, go to work and do what you know you're supposed to do. And that's really all we can do.
That was Amani Hooker?
Yeah.
Tough divisional game obviously on the road next week, but a chance to maybe let out some frustrations. Is this kind of what the doctor ordered, maybe? Just a big, tough divisional game on the road next week.
Yeah, you could say that. It's whoever's next. Like I just said, we just got to go back to work and continue to just keep fighting. There was glimpses of it in this game and we just got to string those along and finally have one of those performances that we've been looking for.
Apologies if you already answered this, but what's it like knowing that you're part of one of the biggest pass plays in Titans franchise history?
That's pretty cool. I didn't know it. Puff (Jared Puffer), I think, told me it was me and Derrick Henry or something like that. So that's good company, to be with Derrick. That was an awesome play, it's definitely one I'll remember.
At what point did you feel like that had the potential, not to break for that 98 yards, but to be a big play?
When we called the play, honestly, I was like, "Okay, I really like this play call". As I'm lining up, seeing the signal that the DBs were making, I was like, "Okay, I know what coverage this is. There's a good chance this could go up to me". Sometimes you just have that feeling, and once the ball was in the air, it was like, "All right, this is about to be special."
What's on your mind when the ball is in the air? I know the wrong thing to think is "I better not drop it".
Just catch it. It was just instinct at that point. It was like a pat-and-go type catch. There wasn't anything crazy, it was just a good ball run under it and do the rest.
You know, you hit 21 miles per hour on that.
I didn't feel like it. I felt like I was I was stuck in the mud, but that's good to know.
What did you think while you watched Brian Callahan react to the Mike Brown penalty?
I think it was fair. It's an emotional play. It's an emotional game. I didn't fully agree with it either. But that's not up for us to decide. I think that's his job as a coach. I think that's part of it. Coaches have to be the type of guys that are going to fight for their players. I think that's what it was. He cares for all of us. He really does believe in all of us. He says it all the time. So, I think he was just fighting for his players, trying to stick up for Mike (Brown_.
Was it challenging moving on to the next play after something like that doesn't go your way?
I mean, that's the NFL. There's a bunch of plays like that. There's a bunch of times where plays don't go your way, you just got to line up again and just keep swinging.
