From our perspective, we're expecting them to play 60 minutes. I think that's the best mindset you can have in preparing for a tough team like this. As professional athletes, the backups in this game are just as successful as starters a lot of the time. You have to be able to go out and stop whoever is on the field. But they have a plethora of weapons on the offensive side of the ball, and we just have to do a great job of being sound in our assignments.
Jim Sorgi has been very impressive in managing the offense whenever he has played in games. He has done a great job of coming in and moving the ball and moving the chains. Of course he's not Peyton Manning, but at the same time, I think he has done a great job of moving the ball and managing the clock. I think by him being there for so long, he has a great understanding of their offense. He's getting taught by one of the better quarterbacks in the game. I'm sure Peyton will be helping him out when he is in the game, giving him direction and some calls he should make.
That they're in a position where they can rest their starters says a lot about their team as a whole. Here it is the final week of the season, and they're in a great position going into the playoffs. Winning enough games to be able to get into the playoffs and having enough wins to where you can let your starters rest if need be says a lot. You have to give a lot of credit to the Colts for doing that, for having a successful regular season.
We are in a situation where we have a great opportunity before us – if we win, we get in. It's a great opportunity for us to continue to build and be the playoff caliber team that we believe that we are. I'm excited about it. As professional athletes regardless of who you're playing, whether it's a starter or a backup, these guys are pros. They're going to take that approach, and they're going to bring their "A" game regardless of who is out there.
I've talked to a few of the Colts, not only this week, but throughout the course of the season. Regardless of who they have out there, they're preparing to play the Titans, and we're preparing to play the Colts. It will be a fun game for everyone on both sides of the ball.
