TEAM NOTES

·      The temperature at kickoff was 20 degrees. That made the contest the coldest home game in franchise history, breaking the record of 23 degrees from Dec. 31, 2017 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It tied for the eighth-coldest game in team annals, home or away, matching the 20-degree kickoff temperature on Dec. 14, 1980 at Green Bay and on Dec. 17, 2000 at Cleveland. Against the Texans, the wind was blowing at 10 miles per hour, making the wind chill 6 degrees.

·      Offensive lineman Daniel Munyer and running back Jonathan Ward became the 81st and 82nd players to appear in a game for the team this season. The Titans entered the week with an NFL-high 80 players who had participated in at least one game.

·      The Titans totaled 184 rushing yards against the Texans defense. Derrick Henry led the way with 126 rushing yards, while quarterback Malik Willis (43) and wide receiver Treylon Burks (15) also contributed. It was the team's second-highest total of the season behind only the 314 rushing yards they had at Houston on Oct. 30.

·      For the third time in 2022, the Titans offense scored a touchdown on its first possession of the second half. They also accomplished the feat at Houston (Oct. 30) and at Green Bay (Nov. 17).

·      The Titans offense scored a touchdown on its only red-zone possession, extending the unit's streak to six consecutive touchdowns on drives inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

·      The Titans defense allowed 15 total first downs, which tied for the second-fewest by an opponent this season. The Titans allowed a season-low 10 first downs at Houston on Oct. 30, and they allowed 15 at Green Bay on Nov. 17.

·      The Titans produced their 10th game of the season in which they held their opponents to 20 points or less. It is the fifth season in the "Titans era" (1999 to present) in which the team recorded 10 such games: 2000 (14 games), 2008 (13), 2007 (10), 2019 (10) and 2022 (10).

·      The Titans defense limited the Texans to 70 rushing yards on 30 attempts (2.3 avg.), marking the 12th time this season—and the 12th time in a 13-game span—that their opponents did not reach the 100-yard rushing mark. The Titans entered the week ranked second in the NFL in rushing defense (80.8 opponent rushing yards per game) and now have allowed an average of 80.1 opponent rushing yards per contest.

·      The defense limited Texans quarterback Davis Mills to a 76.2 passer rating. Mills was 17-of-28 for 178 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

CB TRE AVERY
