The new contract provides the Titans with lasting stability at key positions the offensive line. Left tackle Michael Roos agreed to a multi-year deal in April.
"The ability to get both Michael and David under contract long term is a huge part of growing a young team," said Titans General Manager Mike Reinfeldt. "David is the prototypical right tackle in my mind and his style of play sets the tone in a lot of ways for our line and our team in general."
The 6-foot-7, 318-pount Stewart, appropriately nicknamed "Big Country," has started 30 games at right tackle during his three-year career, including all 16 games in 2007. Originally a fourth-round selection (113th overall) in the 2005 NFL Draft, he was inactive for every game as a rookie but emerged in 2006 with 14 starts and a reputation as one of the team's most physical players. He played an integral role in the NFL's fifth-ranked rushing offense in both 2006 and 2007.
A native of Moulton, Ala., Stewart started 35 consecutive games in his career at Mississippi State and earned honorable mention All-Southeastern Conference honors as a senior.
