Titans RB Tony Pollard Takes Pride in His Consistency, and Durability

NASHVILLE – Tony Pollard isn't naïve to the ways of the NFL.

Heading into his eighth season, his focus during the offseason was on returning to the Titans.

Meanwhile, back in April, there was plenty of chatter leading up to the NFL Draft about the Titans using the fourth overall pick on Notre Dame running Jeremiyah Love.

Pollard heard it, at least some of it.

"I know in this league, it's their job to try to replace you," Pollard said. "So, I know that's what comes with the business aspect of it. But to be honest, I wasn't really paying attention to it, not much. I saw it, but I have a wife, three kids, and my wife is pregnant. I have a lot of things that keep me occupied."

The Cardinals ended up picking Love with the third pick, and the Titans picked Ohio State receiver Carnell Tate.

And, Pollard is ready to pick up where he left off last season in Tennessee after rushing for over 1,000 yards for the fourth season in a row, dating back to his days with the Cowboys.

Pollard started all 17 games at running back in 2025, when he led the team with a career-best 1,082 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. With 33 receptions for 206 yards to go with it, Pollard led the offense with 1,288 scrimmage yards.

"He's an unbelievable pro," Titans coach Robert Saleh said of Pollard. "Does everything the right way, brings a lot of juice and energy, he's a positive individual. I feel like he's in here all the time, working on his body, doing the things he needs to do to get himself ready, and then his practice habits are second to none and how deliberate he is. And I'm not just talking about live reps, but if you guys get a chance to watch a walkthrough today, I mean every single step he takes is deliberate in terms of the pad level, the hand placement, the eyes to make sure that he's executing at a high level and those are the reasons why he's so successful."

Pollard's focus remains on bettering himself, and the team, alongside fellow running backs Tyjae Spears, Michael Carter, Julius Chestnut, Kalel Mullings and Nick Singleton, a fifth-round draft pick.

In 2025, Pollard became the fourth player in Titans/Oilers history to rush for 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons with the club, joining Earl Campbell (1978-81), Eddie George (1996-00) and Chris Johnson (2008-13).

With 1,082 rushing yards in 2025, he recorded his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season. Pollard and Derrick Henry are the NFL's only running backs to rush for 1,000 yards every season from 2022 to 2025. Has 13 career 100-yard rushing games, including three in 2025.

His secret to success? Working every day to be consistent.

"Just doing everything with a purpose," Pollard said. "Being intentional with everything you do, just how you take care of your body, how you handle yourself away from the building, just mentally, physically, how you prepare and get your body ready.

"The work ethic, everything I am doing behind the scenes is paying off."

Pollard takes pride in how it's going.

And, he wants to keep on keeping on.

Pollard has played in at least 15 games in all seven of his NFL seasons, while starting 50 games over the past three seasons.

"I take a lot of pride in my consistency, because in this league the best ability is being available," he said. "So, if you're not healthy, if you are not there week to week, it is hard to depend on you, it is hard for you to be consistent."
