NASHVILLE – The Titans have officially hired Dave Ziegler as Assistant General Manager and Reggie McKenzie as Vice President/Football Advisor.
Both executives have spent the week working for the team at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., after agreeing to terms on deals earlier in the week.
Titans General Mike Borgonzi discussed the additions on Tuesday.
"I've known Dave, and I've known Reggie, for a long time," Borgonzi said. "Tremendous people, first of all, very respected in the business, tremendous evaluators. They will be a great sounding board for all of us – they've both been in the chair before. Just a ton of respect for them, and I think if you talk to people in the league, you'll hear the same thing about them. Just excited, and they will be a part of the whole process – the college, the pro, getting things aligned and organized. We're excited to have them."
Ziegler, who spent the 2024 season as Senior Personnel Advisor for the New Orleans Saints, arrives in Tennessee with 15 years of NFL personnel experience. He served as General Manager for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022 and 2023.
Ziegler broke into the NFL with the Denver Broncos in 2010. He served multiple roles in Denver's scouting department over three seasons before heading to the New England Patriots in 2013. In New England, he was the Assistant Director of Pro Personnel (2013-15), Director of Pro Personnel (2016-19), Assistant Director of Player Personnel (2020) and Director of Player Personnel (2021). During his nine seasons (2013-21) with New England, the Patriots won seven division titles, advanced to six conference championship games and claimed three Super Bowl (XLIX, LI, LIII) titles.
A native of Tallmadge, Ohio, Ziegler was a wide receiver and returner at John Carroll University. His early coaching career included stints at Chaparral (Scottsdale, Ariz.) High School, Iona College and John Carroll.
McKenzie interviewed for the general manager position before Borgonzi was hired.
McKenzie, who spent the past six seasons (2019 – 24) with the Miami Dolphins as Senior Personnel Executive, returns to his home state, where he was raised in Knoxville and played linebacker at the University of Tennessee. After a professional playing career that included time with the Raiders (1985-88), Phoenix Cardinals (1989-90) and San Francisco 49ers (1992), he spent 1993 as a graduate assistant for the Volunteers.
In 1994, McKenzie embarked upon a career working in NFL front offices that is now entering its 32nd campaign. He totaled 18 seasons (1994 - 2011) with the Green Bay Packers, rising in the ranks from Pro Personnel Assistant (1994-96) to Director of Pro Personnel (1997-2007) and finally Director of Football Operations (2008-11). During his time in Green Bay, the team earned eight division titles, three conference championships and two Super Bowls (XXXI and XLV), while totaling the second-best record (185-103) in the NFL over that period of time.
In 2012, the Raiders hired McKenzie as General Manager, a role he maintained for seven seasons (2012-18). In 2016, McKenzie was named the NFL's Executive of the Year by Sporting News, The MMQB and the PFWA (Pro Football Writers Association), as the Raiders posted a 12-4 record and their first playoff appearance in 14 years.
